‘Space Oddity’. ‘Suspicious Minds’. ‘Pinball Wizard’. ‘Whole Lotta Love’. ‘Come Together’ - 1969 could easily be said to have been a vintage year for music, the end of a decade that changed the world and the introduction to one that would prove equally inspirational. It would also see the birth of a band that would start as an idea to electrify traditional music and would go on to become one of the most enduring stories in the folk world and beyond. Fifty years on and Steeleye Span marked this incredible milestone with the album EST’D 1969 and a tour that celebrated a band that are as creative and vital now as ever. Led by the iconic Maddy Prior, the seven-piece line-up drew on the group’s incredible history to provide a night of favourites and surprises from down the decades.
The stream captures the band in full flow at the Epsom Playhouse in 2019 and is taken from the 50th Anniversary Tour CD/DVD Set that was released that year. The band performed a selection of songs from EST'D 1969 as well as a handful of greatest hits that have cemented them as one of the British folk's most iconic groups.
The event consists of a 1st set stream followed by an interval where you will be able to watch the recorded Question & Answer session. You will then be able to return to the 2nd set stream or skip the Question & Answer session and move directly to the 2nd set stream should you wish.
